## Чому варто розрізняти?

Техно - це не просто музика, це світ, повний різноманіття та неймовірних звуків. І хоча жанри техно часом переплітаються, вміння розрізняти та розуміння їх особливостей робить вашу подорож ще захопливішою! Це аналогічно подорожі відомими вулицями у Львові чи Одесі, та можливості розрізняти архітектуру будівель і розповісти другу який приїхав перший раз історичні факти.  Розрізняючи ці жанри, ви поглиблюєте своє розуміння музичної культури та відкриваєте нові горизонти звуків. Кожен жанр має свою власну історію та емоційний відтінок, який допомагає побачити техно в різних світлах. 

## Які жанри варто розрізняти?

Хоча історія заснування електронної музики не зовсім стосуєтся теми цієї статті, і це вимагало би декількох статей, ми вважаємо, що треба почати від історичного звучання усіх жанрів. Тож, звідки зʼявилось техно?

Якщо коротко, то саме Диско-ді-джеї та фанк-групи передували зародженню детройтського техно та Хаусу, що пізніше породило Транс, а зовсім згодом зʼявились культурні, стилістичні витоки і похідні форми, які згуртувались у 9 головних субжанрах. Що це за жанри?

Техно має 9 головних субжанрів, які можуть модифікуватись від бажання саунд продюсера 

- minimal techno, 
- ambient techno, 
- hardcore techno, 
- industrial techno, 
- Melodic (progressive) Techno,

- tech house. 

Виникає питання, чому tech house відносять до техно? Це цікаве питання, до якого ми колись повернемось! А зараз, знаючи головні напрями, дізнаємось як їх відрізнити.

У нашому інстаграмі, ми запропонували вгадати нашим читачам до якого жанру відноситься музика, яку ми граємо на наших заходах, кожний раз, або на відповідних екосистемах.

Результати показали цікаві результати) З 56 опитуваних людей, зокрема артистів та відвідувачів, 35% відповідили правильно. 

Що нам говорить результат опитування? Хоча цифра є нижче 50%, ми не вважаємо результат поганим. Не дивно, що людям важко розрізняти музику, або не вдалось відповісти завжди вірно, оскільки сучасні твори дуже змішані, і один твір може відноситись до 2 жанрів одночасно.  На нашу думку, якщо людям вдалося вгадати хоча б один трек з 5 приведених, це вже добрий знак, що людина відчуває культуру та вміє розрізняти жанри, у цьому масивному океані електронної музики. Проте, думаємо слухачам цікаво дізнатись, чому вони сплутали Progressive House з Melodic Techno, Melodic з High Tech minimal,  Detroit Techno зі звичайним Techno, та Techno з Tech House.

## Яка реальна різниця жанрів?

### **Melodic Techno**

Melodic Techno - це ніби оркестр, де мелодії грають роль нот, а ритм - диригента. Цей жанр пропонує зануритись у відчуття та думки через глибокі мелодії, що плавно перетікають одна в одну. Прикладами таких робіт є "Solitude" від Tale Of Us та "Oxygen" від Stephan Bodzin. З 120-125 BPM ці треки обгортають вас теплом та глибокими переживаннями, спонукаючи до роздумів.

Minimal Techno - це вираження глибини через мінімалізм. Замовклі звуки та проста структура композицій розкривають повідомлення, що приховані в мінімумі нот. Послухайте ось, наприклад драйвовий твір "Rave" від Sam Paganini. Його темп 122-128 часом 130 BPM змушує зануритися у середину твору та відчути глибокі рефлексії.

### **Progressive House**

Progressive House - це шлях до гармонії через різноманітність музичних відтінків. Від "Children" від Robert Miles до "Porcelain" від Moby, звук тягне нас від 120-130 BPM у світ спокою та емоцій. Тут кожен акорд - це крок у напрямку до внутрішньої гармонії. Цей жанр дуже часто плутають з Melodic house, тому що у них є тільки одна головна відмінність в басових лініях. Progressive матиме довші базові лінії 2 або навіть 4 смуги. Натомість басова лінія Melodic Techno складатиме 1/2 такту або такту. Іншим можуть бути самі акорди та швидкість

Це жанр, який поєднує в собі елементи техно та хаус музики. Основна відмінність між Tech House та Techno полягає у більш виразному ритмі та груві Tech House, що робить його більш танцювальним та енергійним. Треки Tech House часто мають більш виразні мелодії та перкусійні ритми, але залишаються в рамках технічних та ритмічних характеристик.

## **Why is it worth distinguishing?**

Techno is not just music; it's a world full of diversity and incredible sounds. While techno genres sometimes intertwine, the ability to distinguish and understand their characteristics makes your journey even more captivating. It's akin to exploring well-known streets in Lviv or Odessa and being able to differentiate the architecture and share historical facts with a friend who's visiting for the first time. By distinguishing these genres, you deepen your understanding of musical culture and open up new horizons of sound. Each genre has its own history and emotional nuances that help you see techno in different lights.

## **Which genres are worth distinguishing?**

While the history of electronic music's founding doesn't entirely relate to the topic of this article and would require multiple articles to cover adequately, we believe that starting from the historical sound of all genres is necessary. So, where did techno come from?

In brief, Disco DJs and funk groups paved the way for the birth of Detroit techno and House, which later gave rise to Trance, followed by the emergence of cultural and stylistic roots, leading to 9 main subgenres. What are these genres?

Techno has 9 main subgenres that can be modified according to the sound producer's desire:

## **How do people differentiate?**

On our Instagram, we asked our readers to guess the genre of music we play at our events or on corresponding platforms. The list of tracks we used:

The results showed interesting findings. Out of 56 respondents, including artists and attendees, 35% answered correctly.

What does the survey result tell us? Though the number is below 50%, we don't consider the result bad. It's not surprising that people find it difficult to differentiate music or always answer correctly, as modern works are highly blended, and a single track can belong to 2 genres simultaneously. In our opinion, if people managed to identify at least one track out of the 5 presented, it's a good sign that they feel the culture and can differentiate genres in this vast ocean of electronic music. However, we believe listeners would find it interesting to learn why they confused Progressive House with Melodic Techno, Melodic with High Tech Minimal, Detroit Techno with regular Techno, and Techno with Tech House.

Progressive House is a path to harmony through the diversity of musical shades. This genre is often confused with Melodic house since their only main difference lies in the basslines. Progressive will have longer base lines, 2 or even 4 measures. In contrast, the bass line of Melodic Techno will be 1/2 measure or one measure. There might also be differences in chords and speed.
